This figurine is inspired by the character of John Blacksad, hero of the Blacksad series published by Dargaud editions. Sculpted in France and hand-painted. Limited edition and numbered 600 copies with certificate of authenticity hand signed by Juanjo Guarnido. Height: 24,5cm.
Blacksad is a comic album series created by Spanish authors Juan Díaz Canales (writer) and Juanjo Guarnido (artist), and published by French publisher Dargaud. Though both authors are Spanish, their main target audience for Blacksad is the French market and thus they publish all Blacksad volumes in French first; the Spanish edition usually follows about one month later.
This statue of Blacksad in a helical pose shows him in action, turning around to ward off danger. Blacksad is delivered on a base-decor representing a New York pavement and its manhole. This very dynamic and expressive piece is the result of over 2 years of work. Particular attention was paid to the drapery, the treatment of the folds of the garment giving this statue all its expressiveness! One of our goals was to satisfy the author who dreamed of seeing us develop a statue of Blacksad in action. We succeeded! Juanjo Guarnido is delighted with the result !!
This exceptional piece is limited to 600 copies worldwide (numbering engraved under the base) and is delivered with its booklet-certificate of authenticity signed by Juanjo Guarnido. Sculpted in France and hand-painted !!
